US national, local detained at Srinagar airport with satellite phone
Srinagar: A US national was detained at Srinagar airport in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir today after authorities found him in possession of a satellite phone.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the individual has been identified as Jeffrey Scott Prather, a resident of Montana, USA.
Reports said that he was intercepted during routine security checks, following which security agencies took him into custody for questioning.
The use of satellite phones is strictly regulated in Kashmir, and possession without prior authorization is prohibited.
Officials said a local person, accompanying him, has also been detained, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the purpose of their visit and use of the device.
