IIOJK: Liberation Alliance voices concern over deteriorating health of Mushtaq-ul-Islam

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Liberation Alliance has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of illegally detained Hurriyat leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam, who is lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Liberation Alliance spokesperson Sajad Mir, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that the denial of medical treatment and basic healthcare to a critically ill prisoner amounts to a grave violation of human rights.

He said that the treatment being meted out to Kashmiri political and social leaders detained in jails across IIOJK and India reflects the continuation of India’s hardline Hindutva policies and state repression, putting the lives of detainees at serious risk.

Sajad Mir demanded the immediate release of Mushtaq-ul-Islam so that he could receive proper medical treatment in a standard hospital, warning that the Indian authorities concerned would be held fully responsible for any untoward situation.

He further said that deprivation of medical facilities to Kashmiri detainees is a dangerous trend that violates human dignity as well as international human rights principles.

The spokesperson urged the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other global human rights organisations to urgently intervene, warning that any delay in addressing Mushtaq-ul-Islam’s worsening health condition could lead to serious consequences.
