Srinagar: Civil society members in IIOJK raised their voice against the continued illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders, activists and Kashmiri youth languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the members in Srinagar said the Indian BJP government and its administration in IIOJK are prolonging the illegal detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists by implicating them in false cases. They said the BJP government is using a biased judiciary and the National Investigation Agency as a weapon against freedom-loving Kashmiris and their leadership.
Denouncing the New Delhi-installed LG’s so-called gatherings under the name of ‘Nasha Mukht’ and peace slogans, they said every Kashmiri is being silenced at gunpoint by Indian forces and is living under fear of draconian laws. These laws have given a free hand to the Indian army and police to detain, harass or kill any Kashmiri in the disputed territory. They appealed to the United Nations, OIC and international human rights organizations to take notice of Indian “judicial terrorism” against Hurriyat leaders and other Kashmiri detainees facing illegal detention in jails.
Those detained include APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Asiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwa, Advocate Shahidul Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Fehmeda Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Dr. Hameed Fayyaz, Ayaz Mushtaqul Islam, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed, Bilal Siddiqui, human rights defender Khurram Parvez, and others.
