Mass anti-Muslim violence threatened unless 14 cow vigilantes freed in 10 days

Surat, Gujarat : A man from Surat, Gujarat, has posted a viral video threatening “massacre” and mass violence against Muslims across India if 14 men convicted in a 2022 lynching case are not released within ten days.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the threat came days after Additional District and Sessions Judge Tabassum Khan delivered a life imprisonment verdict in Seoni Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, against 14 individuals for the mob killing of Nazir Ahmad and the assault on two others over alleged cattle smuggling.

The convicted men are identified as Deepak alias Baba Kevat, Ajay alias Ajju Rathore, Prakash Kaushal, Chetan Maratha, Pawan Bathav, Amar alias Bhola Bathav, Kanhaiya Bathav, Devendra alias Chhotu Kori, Sandeep alias Raja Kaushal, Anuj alias Ballu Raghuvanshi, Sanju alias Rajendra Kaushal, Akash alias Pintoli Bathav, Gaurav Yadav, and Akash Sarathe.

In the video, Vishal Singh used communal slurs against Judge Khan and warned of India-wide violence unless the convicts are freed.

The three-year trial ended with the court finding the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt of participating in the fatal assault.
