Modi regime acting as modern-day Yazid for Kashmiri people
IIOJK turned into present-day Karbala as curbs imposed on Muslim gatherings
Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian regime, by stripping Kashmiris of their rights and subjecting them to brutal oppression, has transformed Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a present-day Karbala.
The BJP regime allows Hindu gatherings while clamping down on Kashmiri Muslim events in the disputed territory, said a report released by Kashmir Media Service, today. According to the report, the Narendra Modi-led government is acting as the modern-day Yazid for the people of Kashmir. The report likened India’s oppressive rule to a Yazidi regime that continues to deny fundamental rights and inflict untold suffering upon innocent Kashmiris.
“Every day in IIOJK is Ashura, and every place is Karbala,” the report said, underscoring the daily suffering and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom. “Brave Kashmiris are reviving the spirit of Karbala by offering supreme sacrifices for their just cause of liberation from Indian occupation. Those standing firm against the BJP’s Hindutva-driven policies are the true flag-bearers of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
From Karbala, Kashmiris have learned to resist oppression with steadfastness and resolve. “The report condemned those collaborating with Indian authorities in IIOJK, calling them “companions of Yazid,” complicit in India’s efforts to suppress the Kashmiri people.
It emphasized that the Kashmiri freedom struggle is an extension of Karbala’s message — to stand unwavering against tyranny, regardless of the odds. The report said that the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala continue to inspire and empower Kashmiris in their defiance of Indian brutality.
“Kashmiris sacrificing their lives for the sacred cause of freedom are the true followers of Imam Hussain (RA). They are reviving the legacy of Karbala through their resistance against Indian oppression,” it added. The BJP regime allows Indian Hindu gatherings in IIOJK while clamping down on Kashmiri Muslim events by imposing curbs, restricting them to a few areas and roads, and blocking Muslim assemblies, but promotes Indian Hindutva festivities in the occupied territory.

Modi’s Hindutva ideology amounts to state-sponsored religious extremism and oppression in IIOJK reflects the practical implementation of Hindutva ideology.
Restricting or denying traditional 10th Muharram processions, the report added, is a deeply contentious issue often viewed as a violation of fundamental religious freedoms.
Critics often label these administrative curbs as “state terrorism” or political victimization, arguing that such measures are used to marginalize specific communities, stifle free expression, and appease Hindutva Hindu ideological elements rather than maintain genuine public safety.
