BJP’s ‘success’ in Bengal limited to poaching: Abhishek Banerjee

Kolkata : Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has said the only “success” of the BJP’s double-engine government in West Bengal in its first two months is poaching elected opposition representatives.

In a social media post, Banerjee listed 15 “achievements” of the new BJP government, including breaking away TMC MPs and MLAs, freezing the party’s bank accounts, implicating thousands of TMC workers in cases, and creating a proxy Leader of Opposition in the state assembly.

He said other “achievements” included over 14 reported rape cases, demolition of minority religious institutions, removal of more than one crore beneficiaries from the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme, and removing eggs from children’s mid-day meals.

Banerjee said the BJP’s lofty slogans of “Nari Suraksha” stood exposed within two months of coming to power.
