MP Mohibbullah Nadvi urges UP BJP govt not to target Jauhar University

Rampur: In Uttar Pradesh, India, Samajwadi Party MP Mohibbullah Nadvi has said educational institutions should not be targeted and that the government has a responsibility to protect centres of learning.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at a certificate distribution ceremony in Rampur, Nadvi voiced support for Mohammad Ali Jauhar University established by veteran SP leader Azam Khan.

“Educational institutions should not be targeted. Jauhar University was built through great effort and hard work. Protecting such institutions is the responsibility of the government,” he said.

His remarks come amid recent action by tax authorities against the Jauhar Trust, including cancellation of its 12AB registration. Nadvi urged that any investigation be conducted fairly and in accordance with the law while ensuring that students and academic activities are not adversely affected.

Observers noted that the repeated legal and administrative actions against Jauhar University reflect a broader pattern where institutions named after Muslim leaders are selectively targeted, raising concerns over academic autonomy and equal treatment of minority-run educational establishments.
