Mehbooba, daughters placed under house arrest in IIOJK ahead of ‘Kashmir Martyrs’ Day’

Srinagar: The Indian administration in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has placed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti and her daughters Iltija Mufti and Irtiqa Mufti under house arrest in Srinagar ahead of ‘Kashmir Martyrs’ Day’.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Iltija Mufti in a post on ‘X’ said that she and her family had been confined to their residence on the eve of Martyrs’ Day, which is the peaceful conditions they are claiming in Kashmir.

Mehbooba Mufti’s elder daughter Irtiqa Mufti also questioned the restrictions imposed on the family and wrote on ‘X’, “Why were we put under house arrest on July 12?” I have nothing to do with politics, yet why am I not allowed to leave the house?

It should be remembered that Mehbooba Mufti’s younger daughter Iltija Mufti is very active in politics, while her elder daughter Irtiqa Mufti is away from politics.

It is worth recalling that on July 13, 1931, the forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh martyred 22 Kashmiris outside Srinagar Central Jail. The martyrs were among thousands of people who had gathered during the trial of Abdul Qadeer, who had called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to rise against Dogra rule. When a young Kashmiri began calling the Azaan at the time of Zuhr prayers, he was shot dead by the Maharaja’s forces. One after another, others stepped forward to complete the Azaan and were also martyred until all 22 Kashmiris had laid down their lives, leaving behind a lasting legacy of sacrifice and resistance in Kashmir’s history.
