Islamabad: GB CM, APHC-AJK leaders discuss Kashmir dispute, IIOJK’s latest situation
Islamabad: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Advocate Amjad Hussain visited the office of All Party Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad and held a detailed meeting with Convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi and other leaders.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Kashmir dispute, the latest situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and issues related to peace and stability in the territory were discussed in detail in the meeting.
Deep concern was also expressed over the serious violations of human rights by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The participants strongly condemned the arrests of the Kashmiri people, the detention of political activists and human rights defenders, restrictions on freedom of expression and media and other repressive measures.
The participants said the unilateral actions taken by the Indian government after August 5, 2019, especially policies related to domicile and land, have raised serious concerns about the demographic structure of Jammu and Kashmir.
On this occasion, it was emphasized that illegal Indian actions can neither change the internationally recognized disputed status of the Kashmir dispute nor harm the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Advocate Amjad Hussain said the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is not just a regional or border dispute, but a long-pending international dispute related to the political future, fundamental human rights and the right to self-determination of the occupied Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Paying tribute to the Kashmiri people’s long struggle, endless sacrifices, and unwavering determination to achieve fundamental rights, he said the voice of Kashmiris cannot be suppressed through force, coercion, and political pressure.
Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi welcomed the visit of Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister and said the political, diplomatic and moral support of the people of Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan for the right to self-determination is a source of courage, confidence and strength for the Kashmiris.
The participants demanded of the United Nations and the international community to fulfill their responsibilities for a just and peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute.
General Secretary Advocate Pervaiz Ahmed, Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Shamim Shawl, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Javed Iqbal Butt, Haji Sultan Butt, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Mian Muzaffar and Syed Gulshan Ahmed were also present in the meeting.
