Rana Ayyub urges CJP, student leaders to oppose demolition of Maulana Ali Jauhar University
New Delhi: Journalist Rana Ayyub has appealed to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), student leaders and Gen Z activists to oppose the proposed demolition of Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Uttar Pradesh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Ayyub asked whether the movement that recently mobilised around student issues could also ensure that the Uttar Pradesh administration does not demolish the university.
Describing it as home to thousands of students and their aspirations, she called for support to protect the institution amid the proposed demolition of 38 campus buildings.
The appeal comes amid heightened scrutiny of student protests across BJP-ruled states, with CJP itself demanding the release of detained demonstrators in Assam, West Bengal and Bihar.
Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, was established by senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan. The institution has been at the center of political and legal disputes in recent years, with the UP administration issuing notices for the demolition of 38 campus structures citing alleged violations. Critics say the move is part of a broader crackdown targeting Muslim-run educational institutions in the state.
