India’s current leadership harming its own country through politics of hatred: Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi

 

Moscow : Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has said that India’s current leadership is harming its own country through politics of hatred.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi talking to Russian and Pakistani journalists at the Pakistani Embassy in Moscow said both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers, therefore, both countries should show responsibility.

He said Pakistan wants dialogue, people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges and peaceful relations with India, however, the policies of the current Indian leadership are increasing tensions in South Asia. He said that there was a time when cultural exchanges, movement of artists, cricket, music and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and India were flourishing, but during the current Indian government’s rule, all these activities have almost come to an end.

Faisal Tirmizi said Pakistan respects India’s ancient civilization and leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, however, the policies of the current Indian leadership regarding Muslims and Pakistan are damaging India’s global reputation.

He said India should review its relations with all its neighbouring countries and promote cooperation instead of tension in the region.

Referring to the Indus Water Treaty, he said water is the main source of life and agriculture for Pakistan, therefore, water should not be made a political weapon.
It is essential to respect these international agreements and implement them in good faith, he maintained.
