Beijing reaffirms Zangnan as Chinese territory, rejects India’s renaming bid
Beijing:China has rejected India’s latest attempt to rename locations in the disputed region it calls “Arunachal Pradesh,” reaffirming that the area, which China refers to as Zangnan, is part of its territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks when asked to comment on the report that India issued on August 7 the “standard names” of 27 locations in the region.
Guo said China does not recognize India’s so-called “Arunachal Pradesh” illegally set up by New Delhi and stressed that Zangnan is Chinese territory. He described India’s attempt to replace names traditionally used by China with its own so-called “standard names” as illegal, null and void.
“Zangnan region is China’s territory,” Guo said, adding that India’s move of attempting to replace names long used by China with its so-called “standard names” is illegal, null and void.”
The Chinese spokesperson said such a move could not alter the reality that Zangnan region belongs to China.
