Urdu, Arabic and Persian teachers face discrimination in Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav
Patna: Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly and senior Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has said that Urdu, Arabic and Persian teachers are facing discriminatory treatment in the BJP-ruled state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Tejashwi Yadav, in a letter to Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, expressed serious concern over the transfer of teachers, saying that in several schools even the sole teacher of Urdu, Arabic or Persian had been declared “surplus” and placed on the transfer list. He also shared the letter on X.
The RJD leader said he had received repeated complaints about the ongoing teacher transfer process in Bihar, particularly the discriminatory and unlawful treatment of Urdu, Arabic and Persian teachers, which had caused widespread resentment among the teaching community.
He said transferring the only teacher of a particular subject from a school after declaring him or her “surplus” would effectively deprive students of instruction in that subject.
Tejashwi Yadav urged the government to conduct an independent and impartial review of the transfer lists of Urdu, Arabic and Persian teachers, cancel unlawful transfers, stop declaring sole subject teachers “surplus”, protect sanctioned posts and immediately release pending salaries.
He also called for fixing responsibility on the officials concerned and taking action against those found responsible.
