APHC urges IIOJK people to celebrate Aug 14, observe Aug 15 as Black Day
Srinagar : The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has urged the people to celebrate August 14 (Friday), Pakistan’s Independence Day, as ‘Jashn-e-Azadi’ and to observe August 15 (Saturday), India’s Independence Day, as Black Day in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Adv. Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said the Indian BJP government had no moral right to celebrate its Independence Day as it has held the people and land of Jammu and Kashmir illegally for the last 78 years through military might and Hindutva RSS agendas.
The spokesman said, “Not only has our identity been snatched, but the Indian BJP government is also racing ahead with a well-planned genocide to change the identity, demographic, religious and rights character of the Muslim-majority territory to satisfy its Hindutva RSS/BJP totalitarian and communal goals.”
He deplored that all basic human rights, civil liberties, freedom of expression, political activism and voice had been ruthlessly snatched and violated by the Indian BJP regime in the occupied territory. “Over 450,000 people have been murdered, killed in custody and in fake encounters. Tens of thousands have been tortured, blinded and imprisoned,” he said.
Meanwhile, APHC leaders in Srinagar, in their separate statements, said: “14th August – congratulations to the people of Pakistan on the 79th independence anniversary.”
“The Kashmir dispute is an unfinished agenda of the partition of the Indian subcontinent,” the leaders said. “Pakistan is the champion of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.”
They added, “Sustainable peace cannot be established in the region without resolving the Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the resolutions of the United Nations.”
“Pakistan is a precious gift of Allah Almighty. Kashmiris consider themselves a part of this country and are struggling to free Jammu and Kashmir from Indian illegal occupation and to accede to Pakistan,” the leaders said.
