IIOJK Health employees issue Sept 5 ultimatum to authorities

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Health employees have issued a final ultimatum to the authorities, warning of a protest strike across the occupied territory if no concrete action is taken on their long-pending demands by September 5.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of Health Mission, attended by representatives from both Jammu and Valley regions.

The committee said the employees are pressing for a comprehensive job policy, salary revision, timely release of salaries and retirement benefits for serving as well as retired employees. It added that the demands have remained unresolved despite repeated representations and assurances.

The committee clarified that no formal strike call has been announced yet and that the date, duration and modalities of any agitation will be decided on or after September 5.

It noted that Health employees had earlier observed a two-day strike in April 2026 after which the Health Minister had assured action, but no tangible outcome has emerged so far. The committee said failure to receive a satisfactory response by the deadline would leave it with no option but to call a strike across IIOJK as a last resort.
