Historic Medina Masjid, another mosque demolished in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Authorities in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh have demolished sections of two mosques in Ujjan district amid growing concerns over the demolition of Muslim places of worship across Modi’s India on various pretexts.

According to Kashmir Media Service, municipal corporation authorities partially demolished the nearly 150-year-old Medina Masjid under the pretext of the KD Gate road-widening project. Visuals showed heavy machinery and JCB bulldozers removing sections of the mosque amid protests by members of the Muslim community.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (Simhastha) Santosh Tagore claimed that the structure fell within the reserved road-widening area.

Jamiatul Quraish Qassaban Masjid on KD Road also underwent partial demolition during the operation.

Representatives of both mosques voiced their concerns to officials, yet the demolition continued. Municipal staff, employees and police remained present throughout the operation.

Medina Masjid committee member Shahid Khan noted that the mosque had stood at the site for 100 to 150 years, adding that community members had already surrendered portions of their shops to support the road-widening project.
