Navi Mumbai police official dies by suicide in Maharashtra

Thane: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) attached to the Navi Mumbai Special Branch has died by suicide at a lodge in Airoli, Thane, in Maharashtra.
The deceased officer, identified as Pandurang Nimba Patil, had checked into a lodge in Airoli and was later found unresponsive inside his room.

Police said a video message and a suicide note were recovered from the scene. In the video and note, Patil accused senior police officers of harassment.
The deceased officer reportedly described severe emotional and professional distress and alleged systematic mental harassment by senior colleagues, including a former deputy commissioner of police (DCP) and an assistant commissioner of police (ACP).
Meanwhile, Patil’s family staged a sit-in protest inside the Rabale MIDC police station, refusing to claim his body until strict action is taken against the officials named in the note.
His wife and daughter have demanded the immediate suspension and arrest of the officers named in the note.
