Peaceful Kashmir resolution imperative for regional peace: IIOJK civil society
Srinagar: Civil society members in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have said that the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute will pave the way for peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the civil society members, including Dr. Zubair Ahmed, Muhammad Furhan, Muhammad Iqbal Shaheen and Syed Haider Hussain, in a meeting in Srinagar said resolution of the Kashmir dispute and an end to Indian rigidity will pave the way for regional peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia.
The members urged India to hold meaningful, result-oriented negotiations with Pakistan for an amicable solution to all bilateral disputes, including the core dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. They said the Kashmiris have been raising their voices and continuing a legitimate struggle for securing their inalienable right to self-determination for the last over seven decades.
The members stated that it was time for the world community to accept that India had become a “rogue Hindutva terrorist state”. They said the Indian government has not only unleashed terrorism in occupied Kashmir, but its spies involved in terrorism have also been caught in Pakistan and other countries.
They reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their just struggle for securing their UN-recognized right to self-determination till it reaches its logical conclusion.
The civil society members expressed serious concern over the current worst human rights situation in occupied Kashmir, condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists lodged in different jails of India and IIOJK, and demanded their immediate release.
The members appealed to the United Nations to take steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions and the Kashmiris’ aspirations. KMS-14R
