Pakistan strongly condemns attempts to demolish historic Shahi Mosque in India

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned attempts to demolish the historic Shahi Mosque in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan, during his weekly briefing in Islamabad, strongly denounced the attempts to demolish the historic Shahi Mosque and urged the international community to take cognizance of the ongoing targeting of Muslims in India.

Responding to a question regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, he said Pakistan strongly condemns India’s attempts to create ambiguity concerning the Permanent Court of Arbitration. He emphasized that the Indus Waters Treaty remained fully intact with all its provisions, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration had previously rejected Indian objections. He noted that the Court had also dismissed Indian claims in August.

He said Pakistan is a responsible member of the international community and adheres to all applicable sanctions regimes; Pakistan complies—and will continue to comply—with sanctions in accordance with international and domestic laws. The spokesperson added that Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the multilateral system and a global order based on international law.

Regarding the visit of the Indian Coordinator for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to Pakistan, Sajjad Haider Khan remarked that a high-ranking Indian official had visited Pakistan after a long time. He stated that the Indian official had designated Lahore as the SCO’s Cultural Capital for the upcoming year. Describing the Indian official’s visit to Pakistan as a welcome step, he expressed hope that member countries of the region would continue to participate in events scheduled to be held in Islamabad over the coming year.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson categorically rejected allegations of Pakistani interference in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, stating that Afghanistan serves as a safe haven for more than 36 terrorist organizations.
