India: ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ announces ‘Fill the Jails’ movement

New Delhi : In India, the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP) has announced a ‘Fill the Jails’ movement and demanded the resignation of the Indian Chief Election Commissioner over manipulation of electoral rolls.

According to Kashmir Media Service, thousands of people, including renowned actress Shabana Azmi, actor Naseeruddin Shah, and singer-musician Vishal Dadlani, participated in a protest against the Election Commission in Mumbai.

The protest, organized by the CJP following allegations of electoral roll tampering, called for the resignation of Indian Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Despite the police denying permission for the protest, a large number of people gathered at Shivaji Park, where the CJP announced the launch of the ‘Fill the Jails’ movement.

According to CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has removed the names of 130 million (13 crore) voters belonging to minority communities, including Muslims and Dalits, from the electoral rolls; the organization has vowed to expand its protest from Mumbai to various other cities across the country if Kumar does not resign.

Meanwhile, D.K. Shivakumar, a leader from the Indian state of Karnataka, stated during a press conference that efforts are underway to remove another five million (50 lakh) voters from the electoral rolls.
