Indian BSF woman constable dies in mysterious firing incident in Jammu

Jammu: An Indian Border Security Force (BSF) woman constable died in a mysterious firing incident in Jammu district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

27-year-old BSF woman constable Raj Lakshmi was critically injured on Wednesday in a firing incident at Susheel Post, a forward Border Outpost (BoP) in the R.S. Pura area of Jammu.

Her colleagues rushed her to Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu after hearing a gunshot and finding her lying in a pool of blood. However, doctors declared her brought dead upon arrival.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the firing.

Such incidents involving Indian forces raise serious concerns over the safety, discipline and working conditions of personnel deployed in IIOJK. The recurrence of mysterious deaths and firing incidents involving the force also underscores the need for transparent investigations and accountability to establish the facts.
