IAS official slammed over threat to woman KAS officer

Srinagar: Member of Lok Sabha, lower house of Indian parliament, from Srinagar, Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti have slammed a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official in occupied Jammu and Kashmir over his conduct towards a woman Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer.
Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi in a post on X said the IAS officer, Administrative Secretary for the Department of Labour and Employment, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, threatened her career during an interaction in the presence of other officials.
He said the Administrative Secretary raised his voice against the woman officer, Beenish Wani, after she sought to complete her statement.
Senior official using his position to intimidate woman officer
He said the senior official is using his position to intimidate the woman officer and undermine her dignity. He also praised her for maintaining her composure and standing her ground despite the behaviour of the official.
Ruhullah linked the incident to the abrogation of Article 370, saying that it reflected broader concerns about administrative conduct in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He warned that any attempt to undermine the woman officer’s dignity would have consequences.
Mehbooba Mufti in a post on X called the conduct of a senior IAS official unacceptable and urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take up the matter with the Indian government and seek strict action against him.
