CRPF man found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hoshiapur jail
Hoshiarpur: An Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hoshiarpur Central Jail in the state of Punjab.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased, 38-year-old Amarjit Singh, a resident of Chakowal Shekhan village, was imprisoned in the Hoshiarpur Central Jail on charges related to a murder conspiracy.
Following the incident, the deceased’s relatives, along with members of the Bahujan Samaj Party, staged a sit-in outside the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur. They raised slogans against the police and jail authorities, accusing them of negligence. The protesters said that Amarjit Singh had been suffering from illness for some time, and the court had even ordered his hospitalization. However, they said that the jail administration ignored the court’s order and failed to provide proper medical care, which ultimately led to his death.
After several hours of protest, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba arrived at the scene and assured the demonstrators that a magisterial inquiry would be launched to investigate the matter. He also promised that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings, after which the protest was called off.
