According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistan’s growing importance in the global scenario has been acknowledged in a report by the international journal The Diplomat.
The Diplomat’s report says that there has been a change in American priorities and its tilt is clear towards Pakistan rather than India. Pakistan plays an important role in South Asia and the Middle East for the United States. The recent India-Pakistan conflict has also completely changed America’s estimates of military power.
The Diplomat report states that in view of the changing situation, it seems difficult for India to play the role of a net security provider. The convergence of common interests has further improved with the development of US-Pakistan relations. The United States is no longer seeing India as an alternative partner in South Asia. The change in American priorities is a cause of concern for India.
According to The Diplomat, India was among the American priorities for the past several years, but now it has come to an end. Pakistan is willing to improve relations with India, however, India has always responded to peace offers with increased tension.
According to The Diplomat, India has increased covert intervention in Balochistan and launched a targeted killing campaign in Balochistan.
The Pakistan-India conflict in May this year has increased the fears of a nuclear conflict. The United States played a role in the Indo-Pak ceasefire. However, India’s continued refusal to negotiate is creating permanent uncertainty and deterioration in relations with the United States.
