APHC-AJK delegation meets Muzaffarabad Deputy Commissioner, Director of Liberation Cell

 

Muzaffarabad: A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, led by Secretary Information Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, met Muzaffarabad Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmad Qureshi, today, at his office to discuss the administrative arrangements for the anti-India protest scheduled for January 5 in the AJK capital city, marking the Right to Self-Determination Day.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC-AJK delegation briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the objectives of the upcoming protest, being organized by the pro-freedom amalgam, stressing that it aims to remind the international community of the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination as outlined in relevant UN resolutions. The protest, the delegation emphasized, will also seek to raise global awareness and express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris. Furthermore, they assured the Deputy Commissioner that the protest would be peaceful, conducted in full alignment with democratic principles.

The delegation called for full administrative cooperation from the district administration and extended a formal invitation for Deputy Commissioner’s participation in the protest. They expressed their hope that, on this significant day, they could collectively voice support for the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people. Additionally, the delegation congratulated Munir Ahmad Qureshi on his appointment as the Deputy Commissioner, presenting him with a bouquet of flowers as a gesture of goodwill. They expressed confidence that the district administration would play a proactive role in upholding democratic rights and facilitating conduct of the protest.

In response, the Deputy Commissioner thanked the delegation for their visit and called the meeting productive. He assured the delegation of the district administration’s full cooperation, promising that the protest would be conducted in accordance with the law and regulations. He affirmed that the administration’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ democratic rights and maintaining law and order.

As the meeting concluded, the Hurriyat delegation prayed for the eternal peace of the late father of Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmad Qureshi, asking for his elevation to highest ranks in Jannah.

In addition to the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, the delegation also formally invited the Director of the Liberation Cell, Raja Sajad Khan, to participate in the January 5 protest. The Director expressed his full support and confirmed his participation in the event.

Meanwhile, the Hurriyat delegation also met with the President of the Supreme Court Bar in Muzaffarabad, Raja Aftab Khan, the President of the High Court Bar Council, Anis Gilani, Syed Asim Gilani, and other senior lawyers, inviting them to participate in the protest on January 5. They also visited former member of the AJK Legislative Assembly and senior PPP leader, Mukhtar Abbasi, at his residence. Mukhtar Abbasi assured the delegation that he, along with all members of his party, would participate in the January 5 protest and continue their full support to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their right to self-determination.

The Hurriyat delegation included Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Syed Gulshan, Zahid Mujtaba, Mushtaqul Islam, and youth leader Naseer Mir.
