‘PM Modi is a terrorist’, says Kharge in Tamil Nadu poll campaign

Chennai: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “terrorising” political parties and people by misusing government machinery and central agencies to stifle the opposition.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Kharge made the remarks on the last day of campaigning in Tamil Nadu, which goes to polls on April 23. Addressing a press conference in Chennai, Kharge referred to the Prime Minister as a “terrorist”.

When asked to clarify, Kharge said he meant Modi was “terrorising” the democratic fabric. “He is terrorising people and political parties. He is misusing his power and government machinery against opposition parties,” he said.

Kharge alleged the Election Commission had become an “extension of the BJP office” and accused Modi of violating the Model Code of Conduct. He also claimed CBI, ED, and Income Tax departments were being used to intimidate political workers.

Hitting out at the Modi government over women’s reservation, Kharge said Modi misled the public by claiming the opposition defeated the Bill, noting it was passed in 2023 with unanimous support. KMS-1K
