Rallies, seminars held to pay tribute to Burhan Wani and his associates
Islamabad: The 10th martyrdom anniversary of popular Kashmiri youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his associates, Masoom Ahmad Shah and Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh, was observed through rallies, seminars and commemorative events across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), with participants reaffirming their unwavering support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of people, including Hurriyat leaders, political figures, civil society members and Kashmiri migrants, participated in the events held in Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Karachi and other areas. The speakers paid glowing tributes to the martyrs. The speakers paid glowing tributes to the martyrs, saying Burhan Wani’s supreme sacrifice had infused the Kashmir freedom movement with renewed vigor and inspired a new generation of Kashmiris to continue their struggle for freedom and self-determination.
A massive rally was held in Karachi under the auspices of the APHC-AJK chapter, drawing thousands of participants. Led by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, the rally brought together leaders and representatives of political, religious, social, student, lawyers’, traders’, human rights and Kashmiri organizations in a strong show of solidarity with the oppressed people of IIOJK.
Addressing the rally, the speakers described Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani as an enduring symbol of courage, resistance and the Kashmir freedom movement who continues to inspire generations of Kashmiri youth. They urged the UN, the OIC, international human rights organizations and influential world powers to take urgent notice of the grave situation in IIOJK and help resolve the Kashmir dispute by ensuring the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
A seminar jointly organized by the APHC-AJK chapter and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission was held at Kashmir House in Islamabad. The speakers said the mission of Burhan Wani and other martyrs would continue until the people of Jammu and Kashmir secured their internationally recognized right to self-determination, emphasizing that no amount of Indian military repression could suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement.
In Muzaffarabad, Kashmir Resistance Day was observed with a large rally and a ceremony at Shaheed Burhan Wani Chowk under the auspices of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. The event was addressed by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, AJK Prime Minister’s Spokesperson Shaukat Javed Mir, Director Kashmir Cell Raja Sajjad Latif Khan, and pro-freedom leaders Usman Ali Hashim, Raja Muhammad Arif Khan and Srandaz Mir. A contingent of 313 Kashmiri youth presented a salute to the national and state flags, while a “Run for Freedom” race was also organized to reaffirm the participants’ commitment to the Kashmir freedom movement.
