Pasting of property seizure notice on Ghulam Butt’s residence act of revenge: APHC-AJK
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has strongly condemned the illegal pasting of a property seizure notice by the Indian authorities on the residence of Haji Ghulam Muhammad Butt, elder brother of Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmed Butt, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK chapter Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, General Secretary Pervez Ahmed Shah and Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani in a joint statement said the Indian occupation administration is targeting the families of the Hurriyat leadership by following a policy of political revenge.
They said harassing a person’s family, pasting a notice of restriction on their residence and threatening eviction is blatant state terrorism and a serious violation of fundamental human rights.
Hurriyat leaders said the raids on houses, searches, interrogation of family members, seizure of mobile phones and important documents and properties by the occupying Indian forces are a failed attempt to suppress the spirit of freedom of the Kashmiri people. Such base tactics cannot weaken the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination, they added.
They appealed to the United Nations, Human Rights Council, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and other international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the ongoing reprisals, illegal raids and seizure of properties against Hurriyat leaders and their families in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to bind India to abide by international laws and human rights.
The Hurriyat leaders reiterated their resolve that India cannot demoralize the Kashmiri people through coercion and tyranny and the Kashmir freedom movement will continue till taking it to its logical conclusion.
