Opposition’s uproar adjourns proceedings of Indian parliament
New Delhi: The proceedings of both houses of the Indian Parliament were adjourned for a day on Monday due to intense monsoon session.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Congress-led opposition members raised a strong emergency motion in both houses of Parliament demanding a discussion on the NETUG paper leak and the embezzlement in the donation for the Ram temple in Ayodhya, due to which the proceedings were adjourned for a day till Tuesday.
The proceedings of the upper house, Rajya Sabha, and the lower house, Lok Sabha, will resume at 11 am on Tuesday, July 21. Amidst slogans from the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Indian Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the Supreme Court Amendment Bill 2026 regarding the number of judges.
In addition to this amendment bill, the government will introduce the National Dignity Amendment Bill 2026 in the Rajya Sabha.
The proposed law aims to amend the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, to make insulting the national song Vande Mataram a criminal offence.
While the opposition parties are demanding a discussion on the alleged UG NET paper leak, alleged embezzlement of Ram temple donations and other issues during the session.
