Former Bar president Mian Qayoom, others charge-sheeted by Indian police in IIOJK

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian police have filed a charge-sheet against former President of the High Court Bar Association Mian Abdul Qayoom, former Vice President Advocate Aijaz Bedar, Advocate G.N. Shaheen and the late Advocate Bilal Ahmad Bhat in connection with a false case registered at Maisuma Police Station more than 16 years ago.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the charge-sheet was filed before the designated National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Srinagar in connection with an FIR registered on March 29, 2010. The case has been registered under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
The move comes nearly sixteen years after the registration of the FIR, with the case now formally entering the trial stage.
The designated NIA Court has fixed August 12, 2026, for further proceedings in the case.
