Heavy rain triggers flash floods in parts of IIOJK
Srinagar: Heavy rainfall affected several parts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), triggering flash floods in some areas and disrupting normal life.
According to Kashmir Media Service, widespread overnight rain continued across the Kashmir Valley into Friday, with Budgam, Baramulla and Bandipora among the worst-affected districts.
The downpour triggered flash floods in parts of Baramulla and Bandipora districts. No loss of life or major property damage was reported.
In Bandipora district, flash floods inundated the Saderkoot Bala area, affecting roads and a government school. Muddy water entered the Government Primary School at Ganie Mohalla, Malpora, damaging classroom mats and forcing the suspension of classes for the day.
In Baramulla district, flash floods hit the Brennar area of Sopore town, although no damage to property was reported.
The Meteorological Department has forecast widespread light to moderate rainfall across IIOJK during the next 24 hours, with intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms at many places. It has also warned of brief but intense showers at isolated locations until August 4, urging residents to remain cautious in vulnerable areas. KMS-18S
