Absconding Kashmiri Pandit accused in migrant property fraud case arrested in Jammu

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir has arrested a long-absconding accused, Kashmiri Pandit Soom Nath Koul, and others in connection with multiple cases involving cheating, forgery and fraudulent land transactions linked to migrant properties.
Crime Branch IIOJK arrested Soom Nath Koul alias Brij Nath Bhat and others in multiple cheating, forgery and migrant-property fraud cases.
The EOW arrested the accused, Soom Nath Koul, son of Kalash Nath Koul, presently at Janipur, Jammu city, IIOJK, in compliance with orders of the Sub-Judge, Srinagar.
According to the Crime Branch, five cases have been registered against the accused, who used multiple identities and fake documents in land deals. The agency said the investigation has also uncovered financial irregularities involving crores of rupees, while another accused was arrested last week in the same case.
A total of five cases pertaining to cheating, forgery and land-related fraud involving migrant properties through fake powers of attorney and agreements to sell have been registered against him.
During investigation, it emerged that the accused induced individuals to purchase land by representing himself under different identities, including Soom Nath Koul, Brij Nath Bhat, Mohan Lal Dhar and Hadi Nath Dhar.
Investigation has further revealed fraud involving crores of rupees committed in connivance with other accused persons.
