Pakistan lodges strong protest with Indian Chargé d’Affaires over killing of two civilians at Kasur Border

Islamabad: Pakistan summoned the Indian Chargé d’Affaires to the Foreign Office today to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani citizens by personnel of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

According to Kashmir Media Service, BSF personnel opened fire yesterday near the Kasur border, killing two Pakistani citizens from Ladhar village and injuring a third. The BSF fired upon them without any warning. All three individuals were unarmed. The deceased have been identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jatt.

Rejecting India’s attempt to label the slain civilians as infiltrators, the Pakistani Foreign Office stated that the incident constituted a grave violation of human rights, particularly the right to life.

Pakistan demanded that the Indian government conduct an immediate, transparent, and credible investigation into the incident, take legal and departmental action against the responsible personnel, and formally apprise Pakistan of the investigation’s findings.

India was urged to respect human rights and international laws, adhere to bilateral agreements and established procedures regarding border matters, and take measures to prevent such incidents.
