Dantewada: Four Naxalites and a policeman were killed in a fierce encounter between Indian forces and Naxalites in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, officials said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the gunfight erupted on Saturday evening in the dense forest of south Abujhmaad, located along the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts, during a joint anti-Naxalite operation by Indian forces, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG).<\/p>\n

Bodies of four Naxalites were recovered from the site after the exchange of fire ended late Saturday night. Forces also claimed to have seized automatic weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and a self-loading rifle (SLR).<\/p>\n

The encounter claimed the life of DRG head constable Sannu Karam, who was fatally injured during the operation.
