Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, unveiled the 2025 Islamic Calligraphy Calendar at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar today.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the calendar, themed \u201cThe Splendour of Islamic Calligraphy\u201d, celebrates the rich history and cultural diversity of this revered art form, highlighting its deep connection to the Quran and spiritual heritage. It underscores the evolution of Islamic calligraphy through the ages and its profound influence on Muslim identity across the world.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, the Mirwaiz emphasized the urgent need to preserve Kashmir\u2019s heritage, environment, and ecology, which he described as the heart of the region\u2019s identity and its future. He expressed deep concern over the unchecked and haphazard urbanization in IIOJK, which, under the guise of development, is rapidly eroding agricultural land and orchards.<\/p>\n
While acknowledging the need for growth and progress, the Mirwaiz stressed that development must not come at the cost of the territory\u2019s environment and natural beauty. He called for a balanced approach that prioritizes both sustainable development and ecological preservation to safeguard Kashmir\u2019s invaluable resources. He warned that continued neglect could have catastrophic effects on the region\u2019s fragile ecosystem.<\/p>\n
