Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visit to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), terming it a blatant attempt to mislead the world about the ground realities in the disputed territory.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal criticized the Modi regime for promoting a false narrative of development while perpetuating widespread oppression.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn one hand, the Indian government suppresses Kashmiris\u2019 aspirations for freedom and justice through draconian measures, and on the other, it shamelessly markets its so-called development mantra, primarily aimed at bolstering India\u2019s military control in the territory,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The DFP leader questioned the credibility of India\u2019s development claims, highlighting the ongoing human rights abuses, including restrictions on freedom of movement and speech, and the systematic seizure of properties from Kashmiris on fabricated charges. He added that the heightened restrictions, installation of additional checkpoints, and intensified surveillance on Modi\u2019s visit expose the hollow claims of normalcy and peace in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
Advocate Iqbal also denounced India\u2019s actions as a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, which guarantee Kashmiris the right to self-determination. \u201cInstead of respecting democratic rights, India continues to treat Kashmir as a colony, prioritizing its strategic interests over the rights and welfare of the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The DFP urged the global community to see through India\u2019s propaganda and hold it accountable for its blatant disregard for international laws and human rights in Kashmir.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dr. Irfan Khan, Spokesman of the Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), has strongly condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visit to Kashmir, calling it another calculated attempt to mislead the international community and whitewash the harsh realities of the territory.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Dr. Khan highlighted that the Modi regime, since its illegal and unilateral actions of 5th August 2019, has been systematically dismantling the identity of IIOJK. He also rejected Modi\u2019s development narrative, saying that the inauguration of so-called developmental and strategic projects in the territory is not for the benefit of the people but to strengthen India\u2019s military and colonial agenda. \u201cWhile the people of Kashmir face daily oppression and denial of basic human rights, the Modi regime shamelessly parades these projects as symbols of normalcy,\u201d Dr. Khan concluded.<\/p>\n
