Srinagar: The family of Sirajud Din Farooqui, who went missing in custody of Indian forces in 1992, has appealed to international human rights organizations for intervention to alleviate their decades-long suffering in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooqui, a resident of Nowhatta, Srinagar, was arrested by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) during a crackdown operation on January 22, 1992. Originally from Safa Kadal, he had been visiting his in-laws at the time of his arrest.<\/p>\n

“We don\u2019t know whether he is dead or alive. We\u2019ve been waiting for his return for the past 30 years,” said Fayaz Ahmad Zargar, Farooqui\u2019s brother-in-law. Despite their relentless search, the family remains clueless about his fate.<\/p>\n

Adding to their agony, Farooqui\u2019s son, Adil Siraj, and another relative, Dawood Fayaz, were arrested on fabricated charges in 2017 and remain imprisoned. \u201cSince 2008, Indian police have harassed the family,\u201d a relative said, appealing to global bodies like the International Committee of the Red Cross, Amnesty International, and the OIC to take action.<\/p>\n

Hurriyat leaders in Srinagar have urged the international community to investigate cases of custodial disappearances and other human rights violations in the occupied territory.
