srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a protest demonstration was held in Drugmulla, Kupwara district, against an overnight attempt to relocate the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO), which residents termed as an effort to undermine the local economy.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, locals and traders participated in the protest, emphasizing the ARTO office’s crucial role in supporting their livelihoods. Protesters argued that the office’s relocation would severely impact the local economy. Reports revealed that the ARTO attempted to move the office on Sunday night, despite it being a holiday, a move protesters called abrupt and unjust.<\/p>\n

Zubair Ahmed, a local resident, said the ARTO is planning to shift the office to another private building in Kupwara, raising suspicions of ulterior motives. He stressed that the current office, operating from a private building for years, has been pivotal to the community’s needs, and any sudden relocation would cause significant disruption.<\/p>\n

The District Development Council (DDC) member of Drugmulla also condemned the relocation attempt and urged authorities to intervene and halt such actions.<\/p>\n

Amid mounting tensions, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ACR) and Tehsildar of Drugmulla visited the protest site to pacify demonstrators. They assured that no relocation would take place without valid reasons and prior consultation.<\/p>\n
