According to Kashmir Media Service, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat spokesman Ahmed Yaseen, in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressed deep apprehension about the wellbeing of incarcerated leaders, including Ameer-e-Hamza, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, and others. These leaders, he said, are suffering from multiple ailments, with their lives further endangered by inhumane detentions and mental torture inflicted upon them in Indian prisons.<\/p>\n
The spokesman lauded the unwavering resolve and commitment demonstrated by the detained leaders, emphasizing that the freedom-loving people of Kashmir have complete faith in the Hurriyat leadership. He noted that the Kashmiris are acutely aware of India\u2019s attempts to sabotage their indigenous freedom struggle. The statement also rejected any electoral process as a substitute for the internationally recognized right to self-determination, for which the people of Kashmir have made immense sacrifices.<\/p>\n
Ahmed Yaseen saluted the courage of Hurriyat leaders, activists, and ordinary Kashmiris imprisoned in various jails across India and IIOJK. He reiterated the resolve of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for freedom, despite the oppressive tactics employed by Indian authorities.<\/p>\n
The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat spokesman called on the United Nations Human Rights Council and global human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to exert pressure on India to permit independent inspections of jails.
