New Delhi: A Dalit professor in Madhya Pradesh\u2019s Sidhi district has faced severe harassment, including threats, abuse, and an attempted attack on his life, after refusing to attend a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) meeting reportedly organized by his colleagues.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ramjas Chaudhry, a guest faculty member at the Government Arts and Commerce College, said he was targeted by four faculty members\u2014Raj Kishor Tiwari, Sandeep Sharma, Vipendra Diwedi, and Dr. Suresh Kumar Tiwari\u2014after he declined their invitation to the meeting in October 2023. \u201cWhen I refused, they began harassing me in various ways. They locked me in a bathroom, chanted \u2018Jai Shri Ram\u2019 slogans around me, and forced me to repeat them,\u201d Chaudhry told the media.<\/p>\n
He said that casteist slurs were hurled at him, threatening graffiti was written in his classroom, and unidentified goons were called to intimidate him. Facing threats to his life, Chaudhry fled to his native district, Satna.<\/p>\n
Despite filing complaints with local authorities, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the District Collector, no action was taken. Chaudhry alleged that the SP shredded his written complaint and threatened him with arrest if he approached the police again.<\/p>\n
The harassment intensified when Chaudhry was suspended after filing a legal petition against his ordeal. Although the Madhya Pradesh High Court later reinstated him and ordered the state government to address his grievances, the harassment persisted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
