\"\"New Delhi: The passage of the Waqf Bill by a joint parliamentary committee has sparked outrage among opposition members, who termed the process a “farcical exercise” and accused the ruling alliance of undermining democratic norms to interfere in Muslim religious affairs.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Opposition MPs alleged that committee chairperson Jagdambika Pal acted in a “dictatorial manner,” rejecting their proposed amendments while favoring the ruling coalition\u2019s changes in 14 clauses. DMK MP A Raja vowed to challenge the law in the Supreme Court, claiming the proceedings were a “mockery.”<\/p>\n

“The committee ignored our input and rejected amendments aimed at protecting minorities’ constitutional rights,” said TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee.<\/p>\n

The opposition also criticized the chair for failing to provide documents from stakeholders who largely opposed the bill, accusing him of enabling the government to \u201csaffronize\u201d secular India through its parliamentary majority.<\/p>\n
