Jammu: The United Peace Alliance in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has urged the immediate restoration of the special and statehood status of the territory and demanded of the newly elected government to fulfill its promises made to the people during the election campaign.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event, organized by Dr Safeer Chaudhry under the banner of the United Peace Alliance, was hosted at his office in Jammu.<\/p>\n
The five-hour-long discussions extensively covered the socio-political challenges of the conflict-ridden territory, with participants unanimously demanding the restoration of IIOJK\u2019s statehood and special status, which they argued was illegally and unconstitutionally revoked by the Indian government on August 5, 2019.<\/p>\n
Speakers at the conclave criticized the ruling dispensation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir for abandoning their promises to fight for the region\u2019s identity and special status.<\/p>\n
They urged the elected representatives to show courage in negotiations with the Indian government, particularly on issues of statehood and special status.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe conduct of elections in Jammu and Kashmir was nothing more than an eyewash,\u201d the speakers asserted, adding that the true restoration of democracy remains a distant dream for the people of the region.<\/p>\n
Syed Afadul Mujtaba (IPS), former DG, Muzzafar Iqbal Khan, former Judge and MLA Thanamandi, Syed Jameel Kazmi, former Advocate General Dr\u00a0 Safeer Chaudhry, Medhar, Miss Laxmi Dutta, Com Md Maqbool from Ganderbal, Dr Amar Chand Bhagat, fom Chenab Valley, M Alaf Butt, from Pulwama, Rafiq Rather, from Baramulla, ID Khajuria, from Kathua, Narender Singh Khalsa, Mir Shahid Saleem, Sheikh Firdouse, Budgam, Subash Mehta CPI ML, Er Ehtisham, Student Activist, Com Gulzar, Shopian, Dr. Md Hussain, Com. Rakesh, Com Sukhdev and many others addressed the gathering.<\/p>\n
Representatives from various districts, including Ganderbal, Chenab Valley, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kathua, Budgam, and Shopian, also participated in the discussions.<\/p>\n
