He emphasized that for the betterment of India and South Asia, India must move beyond its stance on August 5, 2019, and engage in meaningful and result-oriented negotiations on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and its promises to the Kashmiri people and the world.

He further stressed that Pakistan would use all its strength to safeguard its national interests whenever necessary. The Prime Minister expressed pride in participating in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session on February 5 and reiterated Pakistan’s, as well as the Pakistani people’s, solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren. He stated that February 5 marks a day of reaffirmation and resolve, emphasizing that the struggle for freedom in Kashmir is not just a slogan but a deeply held belief for those committed to it. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom struggle, from the youth leader Burhan Wani to the iron man Syed Ali Geelani, and to every Kashmiri, regardless of age or gender, who has participated in the movement.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Pakistan stands alongside the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to freedom, a right earned through the blood of their martyrs. He further emphasized that the resilience of the Kashmiri people had shattered the arrogance of Indian soldiers. Despite Indian oppression and the presence of a massive military force, the Kashmiri people’s resolve for freedom continues to grow stronger.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also underscored that February 5 reminds India that Kashmir will never be a part of India, as neither the Kashmiri people nor the United Nations Security Council or the international community recognizes it. He reiterated that Pakistan’s foreign policy, which was formulated by the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, has always been based on Kashmir’s significance to Pakistan, calling it the jugular vein of the country.

He reaffirmed that the solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute lies in the free, fair, and impartial exercise of the right to self-determination by the Kashmiri people, as per their aspirations and in accordance with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions. He further emphasized that this solution is the only guarantee for lasting peace in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister also drew attention to the issue of Palestine, stressing that both Palestinians and Kashmiris must be granted their democratic right to live freely. He argued that the world must adhere to the democratic principles and international laws that it preaches and practice justice and equality, especially when it comes to the rights of these oppressed peoples. He asserted that those committing crimes against humanity in both Palestine and Kashmir must face justice in international courts.

Additionally, the Prime Minister warned India not to harbor the illusion that it can erase the identity of Kashmiris or expel them from their land through oppressive laws. Despite over seven decades of using every despicable tactic, India has failed in its efforts. He further noted that the brutal tactics employed by India, such as extrajudicial killings, incarcerations, and turning Kashmir into the world’s largest prison, would not resolve the issue.

Finally, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan’s commitment to peace should not be seen as a weakness, as it is rooted in the democratic values, principles, and resilience of the nation. Pakistan’s nuclear capability and its strong, professional armed forces, exemplified in cases like Kulbhushan Jadhav and Wing Commander Abhinandan, are a testament to the nation’s ability to defend its interests. When the need arises, Pakistan will use its full strength to protect its national interests.

Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has stated that those responsible for committing crimes against humanity in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine must be held accountable in the courts of justice.
