New Delhi: It was just another evening in the bustling fair in Milikhan Jahanpur village of Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh when chaos erupted last week.<\/p>\n

A group of Muslim women, wearing hijabs, walked past a tea stall, chatting amongst themselves. Suddenly, a mob of Hindutva men spotted them, their expressions shifting from curiosity to hostility.<\/p>\n

A Muslim family enjoying in a fair was targeted by a Hindutva goons by chanting religious slogans \u201cJai Sri Ram, and tel lagake dabur ka naam mita do babar ka\u201d in Firozabad, UP, India.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the men, emboldened by their numbers, started shouting slogans \u2014\u201cJai Shri Ram!\u201d and and \u201ctel lagake dabur ka naam mita do babar ka\u201d\u2014 their voices growing louder, echoing in the crowd of fair visitors. The Hindutva mob also hurled abuses and taunts.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo to Pakistan if you want to dress like this!\u201d one of them reportedly sneered.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy are you covering your faces? Are you criminals?\u201d another jeered.<\/p>\n

Fear flickered across the women\u2019s faces. Some looked around desperately for help, but the bystanders remained silent\u2014some out of fear, others out of silent approval.<\/p>\n

One of the women, Fatima, a college student, turned around and mustered the courage to confront them. \u201cWearing a hijab is my right,\u201d she declared, her voice unwavering.<\/p>\n

Her defiance only fueled their aggression. \u201cYou people don\u2019t belong here!\u201d one of them spat, stepping forward menacingly. But just then, an elderly shopkeeper intervened.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnough!\u201d he bellowed, stepping between the mob and the women. \u201cLet them go!\u201d<\/p>\n

His voice carried weight, and for a moment, the mob hesitated. Sensing an opportunity, the women hurried away, their hearts pounding. The women filed a complaint, but they knew justice would be an uphill battle. In the current climate, incidents like these were becoming disturbingly common.<\/p>\n
