Jammu: Congress IIOJK chapter president Tariq Hameed Karra has said that the statement of India Minister Kiran Rijiju regarding statehood is reflection of New Delhi\u2019s refusal to honour statehood commitments.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, he was addressing a Congress workers\u2019 convention at Doongi in district Rajouri. Karra also said that Congress will be part of IIOJK government only when snatched rights of people of are restored.<\/p>\n
Congress MLA from Rajouri Iftkhar Ahmed, Congress District President Shabir Ahmed Khan and other senior party leaders were also present in this convention which was attended by a number of people.<\/p>\n
Karra said Rijiju in his statement refused to give any timeline for restoration of statehood. \u201cThis is a clear message that New Delhi is not ready to consider grant of statehood to [occupied] Jammu and Kashmir in near future,\u201d Karra said.<\/p>\n
He criticised the BJP led Indian government for its \u201cbetrayal over its repeated commitments with regard to early restoration of statehood \u201d made on the floor of Indian parliament, before the Supreme Court and in numerous public rallies by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.<\/p>\n
