Srinagar: Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has strongly condemned the repeated closure of Jamia Masjid and his house arrest, which has prevented him from offering Friday prayers. He described these actions as deeply painful and distressing for the Muslim community in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing the Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, shared that the occupation authorities had also placed him under house arrest during Shab-e-Barat, denying him the right to visit the mosque. It is worth mentioning that the authorities had also placed Mirwaiz under house arrest the previous Friday, preventing him from attending the prayers at the Jamia Masjid.<\/p>\n
Mirwaiz emphasized that this practice must cease, as the right to worship is sacred, and such undue interference is entirely unacceptable.<\/p>\n
With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, Mirwaiz stressed that it offers a valuable opportunity for spiritual reflection, repentance, and self-purification. He called on the people to abandon deceit, selfishness, and falsehood, and instead embrace truth and justice as guiding principles.<\/p>\n
Mirwaiz also expressed concern over the moral decline within society, urging the people to reflect on the community\u2019s trajectory. “Our values and morals are deteriorating, with falsehood, deceit, and selfishness becoming entrenched in our lives. We are forsaking Islamic teachings and embracing superstitions, which serve the interests of criminals and fraudsters,” he said.<\/p>\n
