Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has paid rich tribute to the victims of the Zakura and Tengpora massacres on their 35th anniversary, reaffirming the unwavering resolve of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for freedom, no matter the cost.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, on March 1, 1990, Indian troops brutally opened fire on peaceful protesters in the Zakura and Tengpora areas of Srinagar, martyring over 50 innocent Kashmiris and injuring dozens more.<\/p>\n
APHC spokesperson, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, condemned the massacre as part of India’s systematic campaign of genocide in IIOJK, designed to terrorize the local population and suppress their quest for self-determination. He lamented that 35 years have passed, yet the families of the victims are still awaiting justice. Mnhas stressed that memories of these massacres remain fresh in the hearts of Kashmiris, serving as a stark reminder of India\u2019s unrelenting oppression in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
He highlighted that IIOJK has been turned into the most militarized zone in the world, with Indian troops systematically carrying out indiscriminate killings and atrocities against innocent civilians for more than seven decades. \u201cSince January 1989, over 96,408 Kashmiris have been martyred by Indian troops, while countless others have been subjected to torture, enforced disappearances, and illegal detentions\u201d.<\/p>\n
Advocate Minhas emphasized that no amount of brutality, state-sponsored terrorism, or military repression can break the spirit of the Kashmiri resistance. He vowed that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not go in vain and pledged to take their struggle to its logical conclusion despite all odds.<\/p>\n
He also called on the international community, human rights organizations, and the United Nations to take immediate notice of India\u2019s war crimes in IIOJK. He demanded that the UN War Crimes Tribunal initiate proceedings against Indian troops responsible for massacres, extrajudicial killings, and other grave violations of international law.<\/p>\n
Reiterating APHC\u2019s commitment to the Kashmiris\u2019 resistance movement, Minhas stressed that the martyrs\u2019 sacrifices will continue to inspire the struggle until the dawn of freedom, justice, and dignity for the oppressed people of IIOJK.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
