Muzaffarabad: Institute of Dialogue, Development and Diplomatic Studies (IDDDs), in collaboration with Degree College, Patika, and University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, organized a seminar in Muzaffarabad in which the plight of oppressed women of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir was highlighted.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar \u201cThe Unstoppable Struggle of Kashmiri Women and Children Under Indian Occupation\u201d discussed the rights of Kashmiri women as per United Nations resolutions and international laws.<\/p>\n
A large number of teachers, professors, scholars, political leaders, members of civil society and students participated in the seminar.<\/p>\n
Principal of Degree College, Patika Dr Sakina inaugurated the seminar with a comprehensive and research-based speech in which she highlighted the national and international role of women.<\/p>\n
She said it is very important to empower women so that they could raise their voices for the women who are victims of oppression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
Coordinator of Women Development Imtiaz Awan said educated women can prove to be the strongest ambassadors of the Kashmir dispute. He said Azad Jammu and Kashmir has immense potential and its educated women can play an important role in shaping the narrative at the national and global levels.<\/p>\n
Councillor and political leader Miss Sakina said that Kashmiri women are performing outstandingly in every field despite all the difficulties. She encouraged women to play an active role in the political, educational and media sectors so that the Kashmir dispute could be highlighted.<\/p>\n
Director of IDDD Dr Waleed Rasool highlighted the ongoing Indian atrocities and human rights violations against women in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said India is subjecting Kashmiri women to physical, mental and social exploitation, where rape, enforced disappearances and illegal arrests are being used as weapons of war.<\/p>\n
He said that currently 13 Kashmiri women, including Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen and Fehmida Sufi are illegally detained in India\u2019s Tihar jail. He said the Indian investigation agency (NIA) has prepared a fake case of 10,000 pages against Aasiya Andrabi, which is a clear example of Indian state oppression.<\/p>\n
Dr Waleed Rasool appealed to the educated women of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to be the voice of the oppressed sisters of the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
He demanded of the international human rights organizations, media houses and legal institutions to take notice of the atrocities committed against women in the occupied territory and hold India accountable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
