Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India is attempting to suppress the Kashmiris\u2019 legitimate struggle for their right to self-determination through military force, but it will not succeed in its sinister designs.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that India’s continued occupation, injustice against the oppressed people of Kashmir, illegal detentions of Hurriyat leaders, and gross human rights violations by Indian forces have escalated tensions in the South Asian region, which is surrounded by three nuclear powers\u2014Pakistan, India and China.<\/p>\n
The APHC strongly condemned the abduction of three innocent civilians and the killing of two in custody of Indian forces in Kulgam district.<\/p>\n
The spokesman added that Indian forces have unleashed a reign of terror across the besieged territory. He urged the United Nations to take immediate notice of the deteriorating situation in IIOJK, where over a million people have been made hostages by more than one million Indian troops and are being denied their fundamental rights. He called upon UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres to urgently intervene for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute to prevent a potential nuclear catastrophe in South Asia.The APHC reiterated that the people of Kashmir would never surrender to India\u2019s military aggression and would continue their struggle until they achieve their inalienable right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
The statement recalled that India\u2019s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, had promised that the Kashmiri people would be given the right to decide their own fate. However, the spokesman deplored that successive Indian rulers have instead pursued a policy of victimizing Kashmiris for demanding the fulfillment of that very pledge.<\/p>\n
The APHC also demanded the immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri leaders, youth, and activists. Since the UN recognizes Kashmir as a disputed territory, the responsibility to resolve it in accordance with its resolutions lies solely with the international body, the statement emphasized. The spokesman lamented that Jammu and Kashmir has failed to receive the global attention it deserves simply because it lacks oil reserves. He stressed that settling the Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of its people should be the UN\u2019s top priority.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-Sharie Shian President and Senior APHC leader Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi has raised concern over the mysterious disappearance of youth from Gujjar community in IIOJK.
