Islamabad: The Indian BJP regime, by stripping Kashmiris of their rights and subjecting them to brutal oppression, has transformed Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a present-day Karbala.<\/p>\n
According to a report released by the Kashmir Media Service, the Narendra Modi-led government is acting as the modern-day Yazid for the people of Kashmir. The report likened India\u2019s oppressive rule to a Yazidi regime that continues to deny fundamental rights and inflict untold suffering upon innocent Kashmiris.<\/p>\n
“Every day in IIOJK is Ashura, and every place is Karbala,” the report said, underscoring the daily suffering and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom. “Brave Kashmiris are reviving the spirit of Karbala by offering supreme sacrifices for their just cause of liberation from Indian occupation. Those standing firm against the BJP\u2019s Hindutva-driven policies are the true flag-bearers of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). From Karbala, Kashmiris have learned to resist oppression with steadfastness and resolve.”<\/p>\n
The report condemned those collaborating with Indian authorities in IIOJK, calling them \u201ccompanions of Yazid,\u201d complicit in India\u2019s efforts to suppress the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n

It emphasized that the Kashmiri freedom struggle is an extension of Karbala\u2019s message \u2014 to stand unwavering against tyranny, regardless of the odds. The report said that the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala continue to inspire and empower Kashmiris in their defiance of Indian brutality.<\/p>\n
“Kashmiris sacrificing their lives for the sacred cause of freedom are the true followers of Imam Hussain (RA). They are reviving the legacy of Karbala through their resistance against Indian oppression,” it added.<\/p>\n
The grave human rights violations including killings, extrajudicial executions, arbitrary arrests, torture, and destruction and snatching of properties witnessed a surge to an alarming proportion in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces over the last 37 years.<\/p>\n
The Research Section of Kashmir Media Service revealed that Indian forces have martyred 96,454 Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders, human rights activists, journalists and ulema in the custody of Indian forces since Jan 1989 in the territory.<\/p>\n
The report said that 22,983 women were widowed and 107,983 children were orphaned by Indian forces violent actions against Kashmir during the period.<\/p>\n
The grave human rights violations including killings, extrajudicial executions, arbitrary arrests, torture, and destruction and snatching of property witnessed a surge to an alarming proportion in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir after the Hindutva Indian BJP government\u2019s illegal move of repealing the special status of the territory on August 05, 2019.<\/p>\n
The report pointed out that the killings since 05 August 2019 have been higher than those in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2019. It said, most of the victims were killed in fake encounters and in custody in the garb of violent cordon and search operations in the length and breadth of the territory. It said, many youths were picked up from their houses and then eliminated after being labeled as mujahideen or over-ground workers of mujahid organizations. It added that most of the arrested youth were booked by the Indian authorities under black laws like Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.<\/p>\n
The report maintained that the life of Kashmiris has been particularly made economically, politically and socially miserable since India repealed the special status of the territory. The move, the report added, was aimed at changing the Muslim-majority status of the occupied territory into a minority.<\/p>\n
As the entire occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into an open-air prison for its inhabitants, thousands of Hurriyat leaders and activists, religious and political leaders, businessmen and civil society members and youth were arrested after or before 5 August 2019 and they still continue to remain in different jails of India and IIOJK giving sacrifices same like Imam Hussain RA. Prominent among them are; APHC chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Fehmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Yousuf, Mushtaqul Islam, Ameer Hamza, Maulvi Bashir Irfani, Bilal Siddiqi, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Hayat Ahmed Butt, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Adv Main Abdul Qayoom, , Zahoor Ahmed Butt, Saleem Nanaji, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Adv Zahid Ali, Fayaz Hussain Jaferi. Firdous Ahmed Shah, Abdul Ahad Parra, Umar Adil Dar Feroz Adil Zargar, Dawood Zargar, Noor Muhammad Fayaz, human rights activists, Khurram Parviaz, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and others.<\/p>\n
The report, however, said the worst Indian brutalities and cruelties have failed to subdue the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people and they are determined to keep fighting for their rights, including the right to self-determination. It said that New Delhi must realize the fact that it would not be able to silence the Kashmiris. It said the BJP government must be punished for its crimes against humanity in IIOJK.
